Receiving Depository Financial Institutions (RDFIs) play a pivotal role in the ACH Network in that the serve as the point at which all Receiver accounts as posted with incoming ACH credits and debits. They also serve as the gatekeeper for posting, return decisions, and error resolution. RDFIs warrant to each Originating Depository Financial Institution (ODFI) and ACH Operator that it has the power under applicable legal requirements to receive Entries as provided in the ACH Rules. This general warranty is expanded upon in Article Three of the ACH Rules. Any institution acting as an RDFI needs to have a solid understanding of these requirements and their obligations. There is a lot to understand when navigating through the role of the RDFI. In this session, we dive into the ins and outs of the roles and relationships of an RDFI touching on topics such as general responsibilities, RDFI warranties, posting timing requirements, provisions for SEC code types, prenotes, reclamations and written demands, stop payments, return Entries, NOCs, unauthorized Entries, and more! This session is an excellent way for learners to gain greater insight into the ACH compliance considerations of ACH receiving functions.
