Human trafficking is a flourishing criminal enterprise. Every year millions of men, women and children are trafficked in countries all over the world, including the United States. Human trafficking and human smuggling illegally generate over 150 billion dollars of profit each year, second only to drug and arms trafficking as the most profitable form of transnational crime. These criminals turn to human trafficking and human smuggling to fund other illicit activities such as terrorism. Like most criminal activities, human trafficking and human smuggling have important and significant financial components, and at some point, funds collected through these crimes enter into the mainstream financial system.
This reality poses significant risk to financial institutions, and it is critically important that institutions understand what’s happening in this including the impact. Join us and hear form industry experts including law enforcement, AARP, financial institutions and a convicted and currently incarcerated human trafficker as they tell you their stories about the crimes, victims, and financial transactions involved. Come and learn more about how your organization can help to stop this heinous crime.
Attendees will learn:
• Who are the victims and what are they trafficked for
