You may understand the nature of data files, but do you understand what is required of you according to the ACH Network? The ACH Rules have specific requirements for proper formatting of ACH Files and Entries. There are fields that must be included and others that are optional for processing. Depending on if the transactions are consumer or business there are requirements that must also be met. Failing to properly address this can place undue risk or return on the business. In addition, transactions initiated online, over the phone, or from a paper authorization all have unique requirements and failing to meet these requirements can put the business in breach of their ACH Origination Agreement. With all these complexities it is important for a business to understand the respective requirements whether they are working to build their own ACH file structure or even if they are working with a technology provider that is building the files for them. In this session, we explore the ins and outs of technical requirements exploring data elements, file structure, formatting, and overall requirements as addressed in the ACH Rules. This session won’t merely state what these requirements are but instead will translate ACH speak into concepts the business can understand and implement.
