Often, when one thinks of remote deposit capture, they envision businesses operating a scanner at their office to capture of images of their check deposits, much like branch employees scanning a deposit on the front line. And while this is a form of RDC, so is mobile deposit capture – both corporate AND consumer. While financial institutions are quick to put policies, procedures, and guard rails around corporate scanning at remote locations, not as much attention is paid to their consumer mobile deposit offerings. Does your RDC Policy address all forms of remote deposit capture? Do you know if your RDC risk assessment addresses consumer mobile deposit capture? Do you know when your RDC risk assessment was last performed, or what it includes? In this intermediate-level session we’ll dig into RDC risk management programs, what types of risks should be addressed, potential controls to mitigate those risks, and the FFIEC’s Risk Management of Remote Deposit Capture guidance.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
• Assess their institution’s RDC risk management program, identify gaps, and implement updates as needed
• Illustrate the importance of policies, procedures, and agreements as part of a strong RDC risk management program
• Compare and contrast the Risk Management of Remote Deposit Capture guidance issued by the FFIEC with their institution’s policies, processes, and procedures to determine the strength of its program
