Too often, financial institution staff are unaware of what constructive knowledge is and how important it is to take appropriate action when it is received. Constructive knowledge can occur in many areas of a financial institution, from closing an account, walking through the lobby and overhearing a conversation and just a passing comment. Training all staff on how to handle notifications of death is key for a quick response. Failure to properly handle death notifications could potentially lead to noncompliance and losses for the institution. This session covers the importance of acting when learning of an account holder's death. Topics covered include constructive knowledge, The Green Book, ACH Rules, and the importance of staff training.
