Notifications of Change are used by an RDFI to inform an Originator that the ACH Entry sent contained incorrect information and to provide the Originator with the correct data; it’s up to the ODFI to convey that information to the Originator. Did you know an RDFI can file a Rules violation against an ODFI because its Originator didn’t update subsequent Entries with the information conveyed in an NOC? In this session, we’ll discuss the responsibilities of the ODFI and the Originator when a Notification of Change is received, including applicable time frames and what information must be communicated to the Originator by the ODFI. We’ll also explore ODFI best practices for NOCs and discuss Refused Notifications of Change.

Attendees will:
• Identify the purpose of Notifications of Change
• Examine the Nacha Rule requirements for NOCs
• Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of developing policies and procedures for handling incoming NOCs

Speaker:
• Mary Mumper-Morrison
