Fraud continues to plague us all, from consumers of all walks of life to businesses of all types and sizes. A financial institution must support consumers and businesses while understanding its own risks as a financial institution, along with complying with a myriad of legal and regulatory considerations. The complexity of this environment can almost seem too much at times. For these reasons, the industry continues to develop tools and support mechanisms to help with successful fraud mitigation. In September 2022, Nacha released its new Risk Management Framework report to help address the challenges of fraud in the ACH Network. One of the report’s key themes centers around challenges with credit-push transactions. The Framework addresses the evolution of fraud and identifies current fraud threats that have resulted in using these credit-push Entries for malicious reasons in the ACH Network.

In this session, NEACH will explore the risk management framework in more detail, diving into topics such as defining the credit-push fraud scheme, exploring fraud scenarios that leverage credit-push Entries, and defining the roles, responsibilities, and impact on financial institutions, including the upcoming fraud monitoring rules that become effective in 2026. Come join us for a lively discussion that will help your organization add another tool to its toolbox for fraud management.

At the end of this session, learners will be able to:
• Use the Nacha Risk Management Framework to help their institution understand the risks associated with credit-push fraud schemes
• Examine their institution’s potential risk areas related to credit-push fraud schemes
• Formulate strategies on how to disseminate this information to benefit the attendee’s organization
