Today’s financial institutions offer complex products and services, many also have complicated relationships with Third-Party Service Providers and partners. Regulatory compliance is integral to an institution’s ability to succeed in today’s environment, and employees’ understanding of their role in their institution’s compliance landscape is critical.
What does it mean to have a culture of compliance, and why does it matter whether or not your financial institution has one? In this session, NEACH will answer both of these questions, as well as explore your role in your institution’s culture of compliance, because every financial institution employee contributes to its compliance culture. Institutions that lack a culture of compliance expose themselves to potential regulatory citations, fines, and reputational risk. In this intermediate-level session, we'll cover topics such as a brief overview of the elements of an effective compliance management system, essential aspects of a culture of compliance, and tactics for creating a culture of compliance.
At the end of this session, learners will be able to:
• Identify elements of a culture of compliance and assess how their institution embodies these elements (or doesn’t)
• Transfer what they’ve learned to help others in their organization understand why a culture of compliance is so crucial to their financial institution
• Use the knowledge gained from this session to contribute (personally or organizationally) to a culture of compliance
