Fraud continues to plague us all, from being a consumer who gets defrauded to a business that gets continually attacked. A financial institution needs to support consumers and businesses, understand their own risk as a business, and comply with many legal and regulatory considerations. The complexity of this environment can seem to be almost too much at times. For these reasons, the industry must continue to develop tools and support mechanisms to help us all be successful with fraud mitigation.

In September 2022, Nacha released its new Risk Management Framework report to help address the challenges of fraud in the ACH Network. One of this report's key themes centers around challenges with credit-push transactions. Credit push refers to sending funds out to an external receiver. This new risk management framework addresses the evolution of fraud and identifies current fraud threats that have resulted in using these credit-push Entries for malicious reasons in the ACH Network.

In this session, NEACH will explore the risk management framework in more detail, diving into topics such as defining the credit-push fraud scheme, exploring fraud scenarios that leverage credit-push Entries, defining the roles, responsibilities, and impact on financial institutions, and providing an overview of the Federal Reserve FraudClassifer Model.

Come join us for a lively discussion that will help your organization add another tool to its toolbox for fraud management.

Attendees will:
• Use the Nacha Risk Management Framework to help the institution understand the risks associated with credit-push fraud schemes
• Examine the institution’s potential risk areas related to credit-push fraud schemes
• Formulate strategies on how to disseminate this information to benefit the attendee’s organization
