NEACH’s Summer Member Meeting is an annual event that brings together NEACH members and industry experts to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in payments. The event is free for NEACH members and offers up to 2.7 AAP/APRP CEU credits.

10:00 - 10:15 am ET Welcome and Trivia Round 1

10:15 - 10:30 am ET Spring Cleaning Checklist - Rayleen M. Pirnie, BCJ, AAP, CERP, NEACH

10:30 - 11:05 am ET An ACH View of the Fed Board’s Third-Party Risk Management Guide - Sean Carter, AAP, APRP, NCP, NEACH

The evolution and growth of the ACH Network has been fueled by the number of entities providing third party services to Fis and companies to make using the ACH Network seamless. Not every third-party is playing the same role or has the same obligations under the rules but we must have practices in place to ensure we know exactly what role and what obligation each provider has under the rules. In this session we will discuss the framework released by the Federal Reserve Board in May but through the specific lens of ACH providers. We will discuss the questions you must ask and the importance of an ACH Schematic.

11:05 - 11:20 am ET Trivia Round 2

11:20 - 12:10 pm ET The Dark Side of AI - John Meyer, Cornerstone Advisors

While artificial intelligence is a productivity enhancer for most people, it is a dangerous tool in the hands of financial criminals. More sophisticated phishing, easier malware generation, and better deepfakes to enrich scams and bypass Know Your Customer (KYC) verification have already caused a spike in financial crimes. Join this session to learn more about the dark side of AI and what you as a banker can do to combat these attack vectors.

12:10 - 12:25 pm ET Trivia Round 3

12:25 - 1:15 pm ET Human Trafficking - Hidden in Plain Sight - Patty Presta, AAP, NCP, NEACH

Human trafficking is a flourishing criminal enterprise. Every year millions of men, women and children are trafficked in countries all over the world, including the United States. Human trafficking and human smuggling illegally generates over 150 billion dollars of profit each year, second only to drug and arms trafficking as the most profitable form of transnational crime. These criminals turn to human trafficking and human smuggling to fund other illicit activities such as terrorism. Like most criminal activities, human trafficking and human smuggling have important and significant financial components, and at some point, funds collected through these crimes enter into the mainstream financial system. This reality poses significant risk to financial institutions, and it is critically important that institutions understand what’s happening in this including the impact.
